ADI offers full-time paid internships and co-ops to students.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work with our talented teams of engineers on very challenging work assignments. You will play an integral part in the development of our products.
Your short term experience at ADI just might be the launch of a long term career.
At ADI we view your co-op/internship as an extended interview. You have the opportunity to demonstrate your abilities and learn more about ADI, while we have an opportunity to assess your potential and consider you for full-time opportunities after graduation. At the conclusion of your internship we will have a much better understanding of that potential and we hope that you will have decided that ADI is the place for you to start your career.
As a valued team member, students at ADI are assigned real work projects that are both meaningful and exciting. Our experienced engineers take their roles as mentors seriously as they want to see you succeed.
Students must be available for 5 to 11 months.
Graduate Profiles
Name: Mark Donegan
Position: Design Evaluation Engineer – RF/ HSI
Date of joining: 2008
I graduated from UCC in 2008 with a BE in Electronic Engineering. Having already worked in ADI during my college placement, in my final year at UCC, ADI made me an offer to join as a Design Evaluation Engineer in the RF/HSI group.
Design evaluation is both interesting and challenging and requires knowledge in software tools as well as digital/analogue electronics. I work with a wide range of parts including LVDS transmitters, RF transceivers, PLL’s and other RF products. Each part brings with it a set of new challenges.
My primary responsibility is to evaluate the performance of new products. This involves printed circuit board design, creating LabView programs to automate tests and creating new test methods. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a ‘hands on' approach to electronics.
The main products that I am working on at the moment are wireless transceivers for use in home automation and security systems. It’s very rewarding to see the parts that I work on being used in a multitude of different applications in the real world. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to learn from experienced engineers as you work together to introduce a part to the market.
ADI has a great sports and social club and I have made lots of friends since joining last year through badminton and tag rugby, for example. The atmosphere here is very friendly with everyone willing to lend a hand and share their knowledge and experience.
Name: Eoghan Moloney
Position: Applications Engineer – Lens Driver Products
Date of joining: 2007
I graduated from UL with a BEng in Computer Engineering and then completed a MEng in Electronic Engineering in WIT. In my final year, I decided to apply to ADI through the graduate programme and was offered a role as an Applications Engineer in the Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) group.
Within the DAC group, I work in the Lens Driver team where we develop drivers for the auto focus application in camera phones. Our products are used to control micro actuators which move the lens minute distances to focus the camera.
Applications engineers work closely with both the customer and the design team to ensure that the product is designed to meet the customer’s requirements. One of the best parts of my role is the opportunity to travel. Since joining ADI, I have traveled to customers in the US, Canada, Taiwan, Sweden and Finland.
What attracted me most to ADI, when I applied, is the diversity of positions and opportunities in the company. Within ADI, you are constantly learning. Employees are supported with their career development and there are always opportunities available to change your role internally or to experience international assignments in our offices around the world. Joining a company as a graduate can be daunting but here the transition was easy. I have had support and encouragement from day one and people here really do believe that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
