I always wanted to work in a dynamic environment. While doing my degree in Commerce at NUIG I heard about the Graduate Programme Lidl has to offer. As this seemed like an unique opportunity which complemented my studies well, I decided to apply for the programme.
During the first 9 months of the programme I trained in the sales area of the business. I started my training in stores and progressed to the level of Store Manager. While managing my own store I gained great exposure to how we do business and developed my leadership skills. Through regular reports and presentations I had the opportunity to demonstrate my ability to link my studies to a practical business environment. The last part of my sales training was to get to know the role of the Sales Operations Manager and actively work in this role as I deputised for managers during holiday periods.
I have recently started working in the Finance and Accounting Department in Head Office and am already getting my teeth into exciting projects. In a few months I will be moving to Germany, where I will not only get the opportunity to learn the language but also see how Lidl operates on an international level.
What I love about Lidl is that there is no such thing as a normal working day. Every day is different.
