Online Job Application Form Tips

Many graduate employers and recruiters ask graduates to apply using a company application form. Much like your Gradpool graduate profile, having a standard format that enables information to be sorted and compared easily makes it much more efficient for employers and recruiters looking for Irish graduates.

Useful Tips

  • Take your time

When completing an online job application form, be sure to take your time. Read all of the instructions given to you before you submit any details. You can also ask friends, family or peers for advice and have them read over your answers before submitting your application. Gradpool would strongly advise Irish graduates taking a day or two to complete the form. We would also strongly advise not submitting your application when you finish it. Take a break and re read it with fresh eyes the next day. Although the internet can be an informal means of communication, please ensure to take the same care over an online job application as you would over a paper application form.

  • Relevant information

With online applications, some sections will have word limits. As such, every word counts. Take your time to ensure that when filling out different sections, you are only submitting information that is relevant to the questions being asked. Anything that is not related to the questions asked will not go down well with employers or recruiters. They are busy people and are likely to move on to the next application if they feel that you are wasting their time.

  • Keep a copy

Keep a copy of the application form for your own records. This will help you to avoid making the same mistakes if your application does not get the reaction you were hoping for. It will also be useful to remind you what you have written on your application. This is especially true if you are invited to interview. At this stage, your application form will be studied in detail and you will be asked plenty of questions on its contents. It is important to refresh your memory before you go for your interview.
